Day 5: four on trail

45 km
625 m
Max speed: 58.6 kph

Magical start to the day, broke camp, and the awesome little café was opened and I was able to get my first triple tall nonfat latte in days which went down really well. Perry was able to get his oat milk latte which was pretty magical. I had a giant cinnamon bun, fuel for the day, or at least that’s how I rationalize it.

Six of us got onto the water taxi. Farid was driving today. We had a nice 20 something kilometre boat ride to our destination and then started our bike ride. Was smooth sailing today. The only almost disastrous mishap came when we were visiting the totem pole, and Perry noticed some asymmetry on one of the aspects which turned out to be a giant hornets’ nest ….. with both of us being allergic, that was not ideal. We moved on quickly. Multiple bald eagles seen over the course of the day!!

Otherwise the day was without event. We strolled into the glorious campground on Lake Anutz.

Our campground is right on the lake. Dale built a nice fire. Our day was shorter than the drivers who had to drive all the way around to get to us. They were on the road for almost 5 hours. So we chilled until they arrived. Once they arrived, we regrouped and had warm goodies: bruschetta and pizza with a plan for tacos tonight.
