Day 14: Haberl Hut
Outstanding day
We choppered in to the Haberl Hut – Jim Haberl was a leader in the guiding community. The story goes that he and his buddy were up here climbing and asked each other the question where would they like their memorial. Tragically Jim died in an avalanche in Alaska. The community came together and erected the Haberl Hut in his name. It is an absolutely SPECTACULAR hut nestled in a col between Dione mtn and Serratus.
We met up with the guides Tim, Barry, and Monte last night for dinner in Squamish. Suneet came up. She’s doing super well.
Early am COFFEEEEEEEE. Off to the hanger and on to the chopper. Two loads to hold us and our gear for the next 4 nights.
We off loaded our stuff, got our harnesses on, roped up and off we went to ridge climb Wee Dione, lots of scrambling. It was brilliant and pushed us. TestYourLimits has arrived in style to the Tantalus Range.
Back at the hut – tea, munchies, 80’s music and tacos for tonight.
