Day 11: I’ll huff and I’ll puff…..
Guys approached the Caroline hut today. Leg stopped me from the approach. Suneet kept me company. Barry stayed behind to supervise 😀. We were going to chopper in and meet them but wind was WAY too high.
We will try again tommorow…
Barry took us rock climbing instead! World first for Suneet!!! Funniest moment of the day had to be Barry driving Axel’s Triton pick up. The alarm blaring, we’re on the wrong side of the road, trying to press the buttons on the fob, trying to turn down the cars sirens, howling with laughter. The alarm went off pretty much every single time we started driving….and as we pulled into our home for the night all on its own the car started alarming again!
A few answers to some great questions in the comments:
Was it scary biking through the tunnel?
The tunnel was disconcerting- no frame of reference- so a bit vertiginous
Love the Strava map, do you find it useful?
Strava map super cool to see at the end of the day what we’ve done!
How are you staying hydrated?
For fluid we try super hard but when climbing it weighs so much that we try to balance – so we pre-hydrate and then ration a bit on the mountain till climb is over.

So happy to hear everyone laughing and having fun. Congrats to Suneet for her attempt to rock climb.
Dave did not make the team profile but I am told he is with you. Shout out to Dave, Dale and Heather.
Just finished attending CDTRP in Calgary. Well wishes from attendees.
You’re in my thoughts and prayers. Be safe. Oleg
Thank you so much Oleg!
Hope your leg improves so you can meet them at the hut.
The Ironman 70.3 World Championship is in New Zealand next weekend; I’m sure the bike leg will pail in comparison to your bone-jarring, pulverizing ride. Put the two mottos together and you get: Test your Limits and Anything is Possible. Stay bloody safe in those mountains…
Wowsers, your knee! You take care !
Love the truck story. LOL over here!
Continue to stay safe and thanks again for taking us on your journey! We’re with you from afar.
Smiles,
Annie
Hello team
Wonderful to hear some of your practical thoughts (not that the whole blog isn’t interesting). Pesky that hydration dilemma. Is it working to pre-hydrate and ration? How much (ish) do you carry>
