Day 4: Welcome to the Hotel California

Reception is very bad.

Definite change in the weather with big gusting winds low cloud, mist and frank rain. We ended up spending significant amount of time in the hut talking theory. Perry on the morning of day 3 got up to use the outdoor bathroom and three Kea birds were on a branch above him and started talking to him. These are an endangered species. These are birds that love plastic and rubber and causing havoc. They’re mischief makers. And he saw not one, but three of them. They’re not small. I think Perry was a bit worried they were going to run away with part of him!!

Short hike on day three up to a waterfall, everybody came back very very wet. Day four was all about crevasse with us practising climbing ropes vertically using Prussic, which provided lots of laughs.

More food in bags, cards and stories. Lots of tea.

Bad reception makes for blurry pictures, but the team is pressing on regardless!

  1. That’s so cool! The birds I mean. Seeing 3! Are they as mischievous as Monkeys?

    Waterfalls: sigh. How awesome!

Vertical work: sigh…not as awesome as waterfalls.

    Keep the stories coming.
