Day 11: ahead by a century

Both Dale and Dave were transplanted in the last century… sometimes we forget the sheer awesomeness of transplantation and what completely life altering changes it creates for the recipients.
As I was riding with Dale today, we reminisced about his transplant, which was done in 1999 (Dave was in 1997). Scientific discovery and transformative change make days like today possible.
So the story of the shoes is actually weird TBH – apparently a local woman just chucked her shoes at the tree in the 1970’s and then over the past 50 years a few thousand pairs followed.
The ride was glorious today. It was remarkable to have such perfect weather for such a long day of riding. Snacks at about the halfway point. Camp is on the Johnstone Strait where the humpbacks are. Suneet was sorely missed but is doing well!!
Tonight is gnocchi with chicken pesto.
