Heather and everyone at the airport, standing on the moving walkway

Planes, trains and automobiles.

Well. We almost didn’t get the flight. In fact almost all of us missed our respective flights.

Perrys flight to Montreal from Halifax had delays – his connection narrowing to minutes.

Dave: delays

TO crew – Farid, Dale and my flight had mechanical issues and was leaving too late to mathematically make the NZ connecting flight. The text came through at 9:58 am. I was still driving back from Huntsville after dropping pups.

I sent Farid and Dale to airport in hope of finding a plan B. My magical admin AG got a hold of Kathie (also known as WORLDS best travel agent) who started looking for other flight options. A 1 pm flight had seats. We took them. I was still driving to my house to finish packing.

Of course I had expected to have 2-3 hrs to finish packing…..instead packing looked like a long sweeping arm across the table into the pack willy nilly. Packed (kind of).

Me: Uber called…en route 1130am
Them: Dale and Farid were through security
Me: At 409…tick tock
Them: what do you want us to do?
Me: have Dale lie across the open plane door saying ‘I can’t leave without my doctor’
Them: on it

We met up in Vancouver with Dave strolling up to the gate for the NZ flight just as boarding started!!!!

And we’re off!

  1. This sounds brilliant! As someone with heart failure who took up running after diagnosis, and has run 6 marathons so far, I truly believe that exercise has been a key part of me living well with the condition.

  2. I would definitely lay in front of the door saying ‘I can’t leave without my doctor!!’ What a beginning! Way to go you guys!! Looking forward to reading and catching up! You’ve got this!
